The crimp in the crimp tool Jan 05, 2007

It just does not have the power needed and the ratcheting component is wimpy at best.

I have used other peoples "ratcheting" crimp tools before and that is what I was hoping to purchase without spending a fortune. What I got is an adequate crimp tool that "sort of" ratchets. Lately my normal crimp tool has been causing some cable failures when I test them (I always test a cable after making it), but usually putting the ends back in the crimp tool and squeezing as tight as possible seems to fix the problem. This has lead me to believe that my crimp tool is wearing down, so I wanted to get one that can help really pinch these ends on good. This tool works well enough (still got a few failures but those were wiring problems), but just doesn't have the type of ratcheting I have seen on the higher quality tools. That being said it does seem to ratchet down to a certain point then release. No failures but just not the tool I was hoping for...
